As we know, Luis Enrique advocates for continuity and wants stability. On the departure front, Lee left for Atletico and Goncalo Ramos to AC Milan. Bradley Barcola hasn't re-signed and is showing signs of wanting to leave. He's reached an agreement with Liverpool, who are negotiating with PSG. On the recruitment front, Maghnes Akliouche arrives from Monaco, his versatility appeals to Luis Enrique and he'll get playing time. Mika Godts has also arrived and will be Kvara's backup. He'll get playing time. He's set to bolster the left winger position, which opens the door for Barcola's departure, who is very close to Liverpool. There's major uncertainty around Ibrahim M'baye's situation as Luis Enrique gave him less playing time towards the end of the season. Ferran Torres has signed, replacing Goncalo Ramos numerically and could allow Ousmane to get some rest at times. He's also an excellent impact player, as he showed once again in the World Cup final. Another recruit, Lucas Digne arrives from Aston Villa to be Nuno Mendes' backup, but particularly in Ligue 1, he'll get playing time too. A centre-back could still arrive who can also fill in on the right. In goal, Lucas Chevalier looks set to stay and fight for the position. Safonov is number one but it's good to have Lucas Chevalier as well... A centre-back capable of playing on the right could also arrive...to be seen.
Key players
The same eleven as last year, the players obviously know each other and will have a proper break this time despite the World Cup. The real key is the collective! Ilya Zabarnyi will need to show more if he wants to challenge Marquinhos.
Players to watch
Dro Fernandez showed interesting potential last year, still being young, this is the year he needs to step up. Quentin Ndjantou was injured for a long time and we're keen to see him again. Promising, Senny Mayulu still needs to progress and why not get to a potential number 9 position who drops deep. Last year, we saw him in action at times, now it's up to him to confirm. Having bounced back well in the second half of the season, Warren Zaire Emery needs to continue his upward trajectory, particularly in the opposing 20 yards.
The fan's bet
The treble would be exceptional for the club and would make them even more legendary in the Champions League history. With a less disrupted off-season, the players should be sharper than last year and hopefully less injured. The starting eleven will be able to line up more regularly, especially in the CL. The squad has been strengthened numerically and the new arrivals will bring competition and freshness. The dream is still alive to do it again!
