Update 17/08/2026: Jacobo Ortega just signed from Real Madrid. A young Real Madrid prospect who hasn't played professionally yet but shows plenty of promise. Central defender Jeyland Mitchell, Costa Rican international, arriving from Sturm Graz (Austria) this week to shore up the defense. Finally, the arrival of Fabio Baldé, left winger from Hamburg, comes as competition for Godo. The starting XI is slowly taking shape after the latest friendly and recent signings. There will still be departures (Moreira, maybe Doué) and at least one more loan from Chelsea (Mudryk or Essugo) on the arrivals side. In any case, we won't be at our best in the opening matches. Shame given the brutal fixture list we're facing to start this season! What's certain in the lineup is logically El Mourabet in defensive midfield with either Diop or Sousa, and on the wings with Amo-Ameyaw (solid preseason form) and Godo. Up front, while waiting for Panichelli's return (early 2027 I think), we'll logically put Jacobo but he needs to settle in first... It might be Mara upfront first for our opener at Marseille. Hugo Oliveira, the new manager, is a 4-3-3 advocate focused on ball dominance, high goalkeeper involvement, intense pressing and staying solid in transitions... But he doesn't really have the players for that to click right now. Jorgensen's arrival has already made a big difference in the last match at Newcastle. Much more composure at the back!
