Back in Ligue 2 (finally) the FCSM is seeking stability, with two significant departures - Boutoutaou and Mendes - leaving a noticeable gap. The outgoing transfer window should be closed, while a right winger is actively being pursued to offset the impact of Boutoutaou's departure. Here, we should maintain our 4/2/3/1 with an attempt at controlling the pitch through a solid core in midfield. The club understands the challenges ahead and hopes to rely on the fighting spirit and dedication that made this team strong last season - that's why the squad has barely changed. Maintaining continuity and solid cohesion are the watchwords for this campaign. The players know it, and supporters who've returned in large numbers to Bonal will play their role as the 12th man. If they bring their A-game, anything is possible.
Key players
- Gomel will be the number one asset of this team, capable of brilliant moments and is essentially the cornerstone of all attacking plays. - Masson will be the fighter, the unsung hero whose work rate and ball recovery have done us so much good. - Agouzoul, back at the club, is expected to rediscover the level he showed before and lead this defense the way he knew how.
Players to watch
Bakary Diawara (2009) is my player to keep an eye on, very comfortable on the ball and solid in duels, he has all the modern qualities to potentially become one of the season's breakout stars - the FCSM has found their new gem. New signing Landry Nomel could also be a revelation for Sochaux, with excellent data on him, one of the best D2 Switzerland players last year, capable of moments of brilliance that can trouble opposing defenses with his flashes of quality.
The fan's bet
A long and difficult season awaits us but FCSM will give everything to hold on and survive in L2. I see them clinching survival (14th place), and as we say at our place "comtois rend toi, nenni ma foi". May yellow be gold and blue be king, let's go Sochaux!!🦁
