Tough start to the season: disappointing results and above all, many injured and unavailable players. This first European lineup will be tricky to predict… GK: Risser Defense: Udol and Todibo doubtful, Saud still injured. Who plays wingback? Switch to a back four? Skoras could start at wingback on both flanks, but can Aguilar perform given the gaps in L1? Midfield: Titraoui's injury raises a question: 3 players for two spots… DT struggling to find the right solution, so we could see all sorts of possibilities… Attack: Thauvin is untouchable, what about the other 2? Ivanovic hasn't played in the league and could start as BU or MOG (even if it's not his position). Sima played 90', so unlikely to see him start. Is Kadile fit?

After an exceptional 2025-2026 season on the pitch (2nd in Ligue 1 and winners of the Coupe de France), RCL approaches summer 2026 as a new turning point: departure of head coach Pierre Sage and non-renewal of contracts for key players like Malang Sarr, Adrien Thomasson, Wesley Saïd, and Allan Saint Maximin. However, this does not mean that Racing will reduce its ambitions, as proven by the arrival of Dino Toppmöller as head coach. As often in recent years, the club adapts to market reality: selling players with high market value and intelligently recruiting experienced players looking to relaunch their careers or young prospects capable of breaking through to generate profits in the coming years. As of August 4th, the transfer window is already well underway. Departures: - departures of Koffi (loan), Fulgini (transfer), Agbonifo (loan), Koyalipou (loan), Bermont (loan), Sylla (transfer), Medina (option exercised), Zaroury (option exercised), Masuaku (end of loan), Labeau-Lascary (transfer). - The big sale is Sangaré, who joined Brentford (€48m + option + %, new club record). - Édouard remains heavily pursued for now. - Ganiou has re-signed until 2030 and will not leave this summer. Arrivals: - Saud (option exercised), Nawrocki, Skoràs, Cuisance, Hazard (transfers) - Titraoui (from Charleroi) joined in midfield as compensation for Sangaré's departure. - (10/08) Ivanovic is close to joining. To be seen whether he will be used as left winger or center forward… - Expect further arrivals during August. The objective will be to compete on all three fronts (European Cup - Ligue 1 - Coupe de France), with measured ambitions: the board is fully aware of having a limited budget that won't allow them to perform as well as last year (nevertheless, by "doing a Lens", we can afford to dream a little).
Key players
Florian Thauvin, hero of the Coupe de France final (and the entire season) will be the undisputed leader of the team this season. He takes over the captain's armband and can rely on the men who embody Racing's values: Udol, Sotoca, and Gradit. Robin Risser, returning from the World Cup, has already stated he wants to stay at the club this season. Assured of playing in the European Cup, he will be eager to perform and make an impression on the European stage. A great prospect at his position, he is in an environment conducive to his progression. Following Sarr's departure and given the recurring injuries of Samson Baidoo, Ismaelo Ganiou will become the strongman of Artois' defense. Author of a great season, he should confirm this campaign as a leader.
Players to watch
Andrija Bulatovic: the young Montenegrin delivered remarkable and noticed performances last season when Sangaré and Thomasson were injured and/or suspended, and enjoys unanimous support. Toppmöller could make him the number one midfielder, even if competition will be fierce again. At 19 years old, he is destined for a great future…
The fan's bet
The summer preparation (including the Como Cup) allowed Toppmöller to highlight youth from the Gaillette academy. While some will play in the Youth League, others will join the senior squad full-time. Young Mezian Mesloub is worth following closely. Author of the winning goal against Nantes at the end of last season, the son of the former Racing player will have a chance to prove himself in the attacking squad.
