Despite 15 departures this summer, USLD managed to keep a solid foundation from last season with players like Robinet, Sangante, Linguet, Mayela,... As for recruitment, this followed the continuity of Demba Ba and Romain Decool (who left for Le Havre) by mixing experienced signings (Nzonzi, Lebeau, Vallier, Prévot) with bets on youth (notably the extension of Dieng and Decherf's first pro contract) and players who know Ligue 2 or are completely new (Prutsev, Keïta, Morel, Ramos). There was doubt about coach Sanchez's future, but the Spanish tactician will honour his second year of contract. It remains to be seen how it translates on the pitch, but the preseason matches have been very encouraging.
Key players
Key players will be the experienced ones since the squad's average age is slightly above 23. So Robinet, Sangante, Nzonzi, Prévot in particular will be key players.
Players to watch
Decherf could be a player to watch given his strong preseason, as could Prutsev (who is discovering a Western European league for the first time). If he stays injury-free this season, Massock could make an impact in Ligue 2. There are others to mention but for me these are the main ones.
The fan's bet
For me it will be Prutsev. During preseason on his left flank, he's almost a constant threat, with his technical agility, his work rate and notably his understanding with Robinet and the fact that he's comfortable on both feet.
